We celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with our great friends Joe, Amy, their precious (and quite funny) boys Preston and Bergen, and a group of their friends and their kids. Joe treated everyone to homemade chili and cornbread. He is an EXCELLENT culinary mastermind. Seriously. Everything he makes is grande. From BBQ ribs to pancakes made with Sprite. What do you take as your dish to someone who could blow your recipe's socks off? Seared foie gras in an apricot demiglaze? Haha- I'm not that fancy. How about the best carrot cake? Nope- maybe for Easter...
I decided to make something easy that the kiddos would love (cause there were about 10 kids there all together). This peanut butter cookie recipe was nabbed from Smitten Kitchen, of course. I made a minor adjustment. Instead of peanut butter chips and chocolate chips, I went with mini chips and added a little over half of the required amount. The result was just the right combination of peanut butter and chocolate.
The key to these puppies is using a cookie scoop so they thick and turn out crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, rolling the dough in sugar (so fun!) and not baking them too long. Derrick gave them two thumbs up!

This is a great recipe to make with kids because the dough is surprisingly clean and easy to work with.

We give these cookies a gold star. Bergen ate about half the batch. So good!
By the way Janna, I made some Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies on Friday that were, ahem, pretty awesome. At least that's what I hear. I only ate a half since I gave up sugar for Lent. Anyway, Preston was inhaling his and I said "guess who made these yummy cookies?" His guess? "Janna". Nice, huh?
HAHA! Tell Preston I LOVE HIM! So cute!
Can I have the recipe? Derrick loves those!
You need to post it on the blog and try your hand at food photography (I will warn you that it is addictive!- Just wait til you see the cupcakes I made last night!)
Your Aunt Andi would give them 2 thumbs up too!!! Those look awesome Janna...mouth watering!!!
I want to see the cupcakes!!!
Ok so I have a question about food porn. I made some really pretty chicken last week. Stuffed with goat cheese and basil. Served with couscous and asparagus. I took pictures and everything but I have to wonder, is a picture of raw chicken on a pan offensive? It's so gross looking!
oh my gosh. give me one.
Cookie scoop?
COOKIE SCOOP??
There is a kitchen implement I lack??
Where do I get one?
(Yummy-lookin' cookies, btw.)
We made these for Xmas and LOVED them...they were my favorites. I did the same thing, only mini chocolate chips and about 2/3 of what the recipe called for. Def the perfect blend of choco and PB. YUM. I want them now.
